So Many Story Changes...

Our group has made a lot of changes to our story. It has made our story better for sure! The stuff we have been changing has made it a much better story, with a stronger hero, a stronger villain, and it has brought back some of our original ideas that I really liked.

Unfortunately, because of the mass amount of story changes, we can't really do much in the terms of forward progress with assets or storyboards. It just keeps getting written over.

I will be honest, as much as I like the fact that we are making the story better, I want to keep working on modeling parts. I know we can do the character assets and worse case scenario one gets removed and then its just demo reel fun. I was sort of recruited to do storyboards, but the ones I did probably wont make it so I just sort of stopped.

I worked on the characters on this board below and Andy did the background for it.

I have been really hesitant with volunteering myself to do any story boards. The first semester of this project, back when it was still the Monster Kidnapper, I tried to help with story boards (I was in the storyboarding class and really enjoying it) but it seemed like one of the other members was not too thrilled with anyone assisting them (especially me). The groupmate ended up doing all of the storyboards for the first presentation and has tried to continue doing that since. Now that we have more artists on the team, it has been better, but I kinda refuse to volunteer to do any storyboards because I am kinda upset at the person for making me feel bad about my art style not being good enough for the project. I remember doing a t-pose ref for one of the characters and they essentially said that's good but like what if I did it in my style. I will say, I am perfectly happy do do any storyboards or any work if I am asked to do it. For example I was asked by a different team member to draw the characters for their boards and I jumped on the opportunity. I drew the characters for the board above and some others that ended up not getting finished because of the story changes.

All of these are just separate drawings of each character for the different shots. Because they were going to be placed on a digital background I figured I could draw them separate then just place them where needed when I add them to the digital file.

I have been doing the very basic blocking of all of the characters other than the Ring Master. I ended up taking over a couple to give the other people more time for concept work and storyboards. I've also been updating the Miro and trying to help keep the group organized there.

That's it for now! Thanks for reading this week's update and that little vent.
